We took a family beach trip to St. Simons September 7-11th,
2016. We had the best time and hated to
leave! The kids loved the beach,
especially Sumner! We played in the
ocean, built ponds, built sand castles, drew words and the alphabet in the sand, and
collected sea shells! Of course, they
loved the pool, too! The kids have both come such a long way with swimming this
summer. So much so, we didn’t even need
their puddle jumpers this trip! At night
we searched for crabs! Sumner is a pro
at catching them and we nicknamed YaYa the “crab whisperer!”
We went to the lighthouse on Sunday before we came
home. Sumner loved it. I think there is an episode on Paw Patrol
with a lighthouse, which triggered his interests. But after seeing if for himself, his interest really grew! Since we came home, he
has built several lighthouses with spare bricks outside, his blocks, and paper. He and my brother Walter made a pretty
detailed one out of paper and he has it hanging in his room!
We had a wonderful time! I am so thankful for our
family. I am also thankful that Sumner
and Anna Ruth’s grandparents are so involved in their lives and are able to
make special memories with them, too.
